I always get slightly nervous when we book weddings without meeting a couple first. I am a firm believer that a bride and groom need to be a good match for the photographer just like the photographer needs to be a good match for them. The day just flows better and everyone, including us, has a lot more fun! 🙂 I was a bit nervous when Dave and I met Sally and Jonathan for the first time three weeks before their wedding because we had not even corresponded by phone. I was SO excited when Dave and I hit it off with Sally and Jonathan after that first lunch we spent together! We loved hearing about how they met and all of their travels around the world together and we knew that their day was going to be a magical day and that they were going to be a lot of fun to work with!
Sally and Jonathan were married at Revolution Mill Studios in Greensboro, NC. What a COOL venue! There is just something I love about old cotton mills and Revolution Mills did a wonderful job of keeping the old charm of the mill, while updating the space to look modern and beautiful! Sally and Jonathan had a number of wonderful details including a cool seating chart made of old window panes, their favorite kona coffee flown in for favors, a cool thumbprint tree to use for a guestbook and a homemade ice cream bar! But by far, the most unique part of their wedding was part of the table decor. Both Sally and Jonathan are pharmacists and met in pharmacy school so in order to bring in this part of their relationship, they decorated the tables with really old medicine bottles. It was such a unique touch! Who has ever been to a wedding where there is a bottle of laxatives and eyewash on your table?! Haha! It was also really cool to see the first compound that Jonathan made in pharmacy school in addition to some super old prescription bottles from some of his grandparents.
This was our very first time working with Summer of Coordinated Events and we hope to get to work with her again very soon! She was exactly what you would want in a coordinator/planner! She was organized, energetic, helpful and a lot of fun! Thank you Summer for making the day run so smoothly! It was very much appreciated!! 🙂
Sally rocked a separate dress during the reception and check out that second pair of shoes!!!
I loved this little moment between Sally and her mom right before Sally went to meet Jonathan for their first look! Sally had been SO calm, cool, and collected all afternoon, you would have never known she was the bride. Then all of a sudden, moments before she was to see Jonathan, her heart started pounding!
Look at Jonathan’s face in the next one! The way Jonathan’s whole face crinkles in excitement is very endearing!
Sally and Jonathan’s wedding day was a bit toasty side and the ceremony was during the brightest, warmest parts of the day. This next picture cracked me up because the men to the right were using their fans to block the backs of their heads from the sun. It made me laugh but it was very smart! 🙂
What a magical walk down the aisle! 🙂
The beautiful cake by Cakes by Chloe! The bridal party decided to have a bit of fun with their introductions… I think the father/daughter dance and the mother son dance were two of the most emotional dances I have seen in a while! Everywhere we looked, we saw family members wiping tears and it was very sweet to witness! I definitely haven’t seen a ring shot with cough syrup before! Haha! During the reception, Dave stepped outside to catch a couple kids cooling off in the water fountain!
When it was time for Jonathan to remove Sally’s garter, it was hilarious that Jonathan came out with a headlamp on to give him a better view. Then he started pulling out all sorts of random objects out from underneath Sally’s dress, I was wondering what else she had hidden up there! Hahaha! 😉
It was an AWESOME wedding day, Sally and Jonathan! Thank you for trusting us with your big day! We wish you both a lifetime of happiness!!
