Katie + Chris | Raleigh, NC Engagement Portraits

When we were talking about ideas for Chris and Katie’s engagement session, Katie gave me a list of ideas that she had and somewhere within the list there was “DOT’s plane hangar”. HELLO?!?!?! OF COURSE we should shoot at the DOT plane hangar! Chris is an engineer for the Department of Transportation so he was able to gain us access to the hangar for part of the engagement session. It is nice to know people in high places! I loved getting to know Katie and Chris a little better at their engagement session! I CANNOT WAIT for their May wedding for two reasons. The first reason is because they are getting married at Proximity Hotel in Greensboro, NC! I have never been there but I have seen pictures of it and it looks AH-MAZING! The second reason I cannot wait is because Katie and I both follow one another’s Pinterest boards and we share the very same tastes and often pin a lot of the same things. As I have watched her develop her wedding inspiration boards, I cannot wait to see her ideas come to fruition on their wedding day! It is sure to be a photographer’s playground! I can’t wait!

Ashleigh + Lawrence | Cary, NC Engagement Portraits

What do you get when you combine gorgeous fall leaves, some mustaches that rival Mario and Luigi, some awesomely funny trucker hats, lots of running and acrobatics, a kick buttocks dog, and a WHOLE LOT of laughter? You have an unforgettable engagement session with Ashleigh and Lawrence!! We met a couple of months ago during PERFECT timing for some fall colors. I could tell during our initial consultation that Ashleigh and Lawrence were a couple who liked to have fun but I had no idea what I was in for! IT.WAS.SO.MUCH.FUN!! Seriously! I had a stomach ache at the end of the session from laughing so hard!! Ashleigh and Lawrence will be getting married two months from today at the Angus Barn Pavilion and I couldn’t be more excited because as I have said before, really fun couples have really fun friends!

What is an engagement session without a little planking??!! We can’t wait until March, Ash and Law! It will be amazing!

Jade + Jay | Durham, NC Engagement Portraits

Things were so hectic during the end of 2011, that we have gotten behind on our blogging! It’s a new year and it is time to get caught up! Jade, Jay and I got together in Durham, NC during the end of October for their engagement session. We started at Duke Gardens hoping to get some fall foliage in the shots but the leaves changed unseasonably late this year so we were still a bit too early even at the very end of October! Regardless of the lack of fall colors, we still had a great time and got to know one another a little better! Jade and Jay will be getting married in Durham in July of this year. We are really looking forward to it!

Jenna + Charlie | Wilmington, NC Engagement Portraits

In October, Dave and I had the pleasure of heading down to Wilmington for the weekend to photograph Jenna and Charlie. Jenna is my sister in law’s best friend and has been following our work since we first began. Jenna has always been so complimentary of our work as our business has grown and it was a true honor to be able to photograph her and her fiancé, Charlie. We met in downtown Wilmington for their session and it was quite cold and windy! One good thing about cold weather is it is easy to get natural snuggly and cuddly pictures! Despite the cold, we had a lot of fun! Thank you Hollie for setting this session up for Jenna and Charlie. Unfortunately, we will not be photographing their upcoming wedding in May, but we wish them both the very best as they begin their lives together!

Emily + Michael | Chapel Hill, NC Engagement Portraits

Two songs come to mind when I think of Emily and Michael for some reason. Carolina Girl and Brown Eyed Girl. I am not sure why but they do. I don’t know if it is because we shot the engagement session on UNC’s campus or if it is because of Emily’s brownish-greenish eyes, or just that Emily and Michael are just a sweet southern couple but I hummed those two songs the ENTIRE time I was editing the session. It was really funny! Emily and Michael are getting married in March 2012 at a really cool new wedding venue in Winston-Salem called Winmock at Kinderton. We can’t wait! I am sure it is going to be stunning!

Julia + Joel | Fuquay-Varina NC Engagement Portraits

We had so much fun at Julia and Joel’s engagement session… first we went golfing, then we had a picnic, then we went and lounged in a rose garden, and then we played in a field… but wait! It was all in Julia’s parent’s backyard! Julia and Joel couldn’t have picked a prettier place to shoot their engagement session! I had a great time getting to know Julia and Joel as this was the first time that we had met in person since we handled booking their wedding over email and phone calls. Julia and Joel will be getting married in April at All Saints Chapel and Dave and I are looking forward to being a part of it! Can’t wait!

Holly + Carson | Smithfield, NC Engagement Sessions

I met Holly a little over a year ago when I was photographing Jennifer’s bridal session at Meredith College. Holly was Jen’s maid of honor and came along on that day to help situate Jennifer’s wedding dress and make sure that she looked beautiful for her pictures. Who would have known that one year later, I would be photographing her very own engagement session with her long time love of her life, Carson. Carson and Holly got engaged earlier this year after being together for a majority of their lives. They were high school sweethearts! How sweet is that?! I met Holly and Carson in Clayton where they lived and we jumped around from Clayton, to Carson’s family home in Smithfield and then we ended in the small town of Selma. It was so nice spending the evening with Holly and Carson getting to know them better, chatting about life, love, and marriage (and a little bit about my adventures in parenthood! Ha!). I hope you love your photos, guys! I had a lot of fun!

Lauren + Dale | Raleigh NC Engagement Sessions

Prepare yourself for some serious cuteness and a whole lot of pretty! It is not often that you come across a couple that is stunningly gorgeous as well as cute and full of personality as well! Not only do Lauren and Dale look good together and make an absolutely beautiful couple, but they are so cute to see them interact together! So many times during the session, they would be snuggling with their faces close and Lauren would look up at Dale and crinkle her nose at him. When I mentioned it, Lauren was completely unaware that she even did it! It was absolute cuteness to watch! Lauren and Dale are getting married at The Highgrove in Fuquay-Varina, NC in September we cannot wait to photograph them again. During the engagement session, I got to witness and photograph the very first time they ever danced with one another and I can’t wait to capture them dancing for the first time as husband and wife in a few months!

During the engagement session, we did a little re-enactment of the scene and location of where they got engaged. Lauren and Dale like to play a Monopoly card game together and earlier this year, Dale took Lauren to the lake and they played a game while they sat under this same gazebo. Dale had made the romantic gesture to photoshop a fake card to play during the game that is pictured above at the right. After he played the card, he popped the question and presented that gorgeous ring! How could Lauren say no?! The action card said to “JUST SAY YES!” After we finished at the lake, Lauren and Dale introduced me to another really cool location that they knew of to get a more “vintage” look. I absolutely love the little locations that we wandered around and found and I could seriously photograph these two all day long!

Sara Beth + Eric | Wilmington, NC Engagement Sessions

We first met Sara Beth and Eric at a bridal show last fall in Wilmington, NC. In December, they were nice enough to invite me over to Sara Beth’s parents’ home for a consultation and I fell in love with them! Not only are they as sweet as can be, you can tell that they are totally in love with each other, and they are going to have a totally ROCKIN’ wedding! Even back in December, Sara Beth already had a whole folder of wedding planning stuff including some concept sheets that she had made with clippings from magazines and other things that she had found to use as inspiration for their colors, their flowers, and their decor for the wedding! I love a bride with a plan!! I left that night hoping that I would book the wedding but knew that they were probably not in any hurry to book considering their wedding wasn’t until May 2012 which was a year and a half away at the time. Well fast forward about six weeks and Dave and I were honored to be asked to participate in an Open House event at The Cotton Room in downtown Durham, NC. While we were there, we met another amazing couple that was getting married on the same date in May 2012. They decided to book us for their wedding on the spot. Literally, less than 36 hours later, I received an email from Sara Beth stating that they too would like to book for that May 2012 date. OH NO!!! I was so disappointed, I couldn’t even explain! I emailed Sara Beth back and explained the situation and the most amazing thing ensued… they were able to SWITCH their wedding date to two weeks later!!!! Was I excited? Oh yes, I think I was! They were having a minor issue with their ceremony venue as well on that May date as well so it goes to show that sometimes things happen for a reason. Sara Beth and Eric will be getting married in June 2012 at the amazingly beautiful Airlie Gardens in Wilmington, NC and will hold their reception at a fairly new reception venue in downtown Wilmington called 128 South. We can’t wait! We met Sara Beth and Eric down in Wilmington last month for their engagement session and we jumped all over town capturing their fun relationship! We started at Airlie Gardens, where they will be getting married, then headed to the beach and finished up downtown…

Holy Bananas!! Do you see the gorgeous eyes going on above?? You go girl! Isn’t Sara Beth going to be an absolutely stunning bride? The funniest juxtaposition to Sara Beth’s gorgeousness is that Sara Beth used to play lacrosse and ice hockey when she was in college! Yes, you read that right! She was a hockey player! Her body does just does not scream hockey player to me, too funny!! Thanks for meeting us down in Wilmington for your E-session, guys! We had SO much fun and we absolutely CANNOT wait for next June!

Erin + Tim | Durham, NC Engagement Portraits

It just came to my realization that I never blogged about this beautiful session! Between vacation, workshops, and preparing for the beginning of the wedding season, I apparently forgot to hit the “publish” button! Erin and Tim and I met for their engagement session back at the beginning of March. It is always so refreshing to photograph two people that are so obviously in love with one another! No matter where I put them, Erin and Tim just seemed to melt in to one another and it was a pleasure to capture their love for one another with my lens! I can’t wait for their wedding in October!
