I LOVE Katie and Chris! They are the kind of people that make you wish you had met them years ago so you could be their friends instead of their wedding photographers… although we are totally thankful we were their wedding photographers! Katie has such a vibrant and fun personality that is almost magnetic and Chris has this strong and quiet thing going on that reminds me of two of my favorite men, Dave and my dad. This was the ultimate DIY wedding! Katie’s family is FILLED with creative talent and they need to go into the wedding planning industry because they did a BEAUTIFUL job! Katie’s dad built/created the most magical and whimsical copper trees that arched over Katie and Chris where they exchanged their vows, while Katie’s mom actually made all of the bridesmaid’s dresses. Katie’s sisters not only helped with hair and makeup, but they also made numerous items throughout the day as well including Katie’s “hair fascinator”. I cannot begin to imagine the number of man hours that went into planning and preparing for this gorgeous wedding the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro, NC. I also cannot begin to imagine the number of yards that went into making all of the yarn balls that adorned the copper trees, that decorated the dinner room, and that each of the guests received as a wedding gift. It was pretty incredible and I think that it is a wedding that no one will soon forget!

Katie’s dad has made a lot of pieces of functional art throughout Proximity Hotel. It was very special to be able to hang Katie’s dress from a fixture that Katie’s dad created! Katie’s dad also makes the most amazing wooden hearts that he gives to family members to commemorate special moments in their lives and I was so glad that we were able to use Katie and Chris’ hearts to photograph their rings that they were preparing to exchange.The flowers at the wedding that were created by Brenda McLamb of Proximity Hotel were some of the most stunning floral pieces I have ever seen! BEAUTIFUL!! Katie’s bouquet in particular was the biggest, most awesomely beautiful bouquet and was positively breathtaking! I I loved that Katie and Chris picked out separate ties for each of the groomsmen that were coordinating colors but different patterns. And the Lego cufflinks??? Awesomeness!II selfishly wish that I could photography Katie every day! Katie has the most perfect skin! No retouching required! She makes my job a bit easier! Katie has the BEST facial expressions! EVER.I absolutely loved this tender moment exchanged between Chris and his future father in law.This is another exhibit of why I want Katie’s family to adopt me! Right after I got them lined up for the first family formal following the ceremony, they all four busted out in dance simultaneously! It was pretty spectacular!
SSeriously, everything in this room aside from the florals was made by Katie, Chris and friends and family! They made each individual yarn ball along with each piece of mirror garland. Katie’s dad also made the boxes for the grass centerpieces and even mobile arms to hang all of the yarn balls from the ceiling. I love the continuation of the Lego theme…Another priceless face offered by Katie on the right! Seriously, magical.Proximity Hotel has an artist in residence that has done the beautiful artwork that adorns the hotel rooms. He was with us at the wedding and was creating works of art all night long! How cool would it be to have a collection of paintings of all of the big moments of your wedding day?! It was pretty spectacular!

It was such a magical day! And even that is a bit of an understatement! Dave and I were completely honored to be there to witness and photograph your wedding day, Katie and Chris! We wish you a lifetime of happiness together and wish you all the best!

I love the two pictures of Janet’s parents right above! I can only imagine how I will feel on the day that my boys get married but I am certain I will feel all of the emotion that Janet’s parent’s felt on that day- pride, love, and a little bit of sadness as they head off to give their little girl away!

This group was a lot of fun! They specially requested to do a number of pictures with really funny faces and they were hilarious!

This one makes me laugh so much!! When I told them to give me a funny face, they hit these faces without even thinking! They remind me of some sort of cartoon character! When we arrived at The Cotton Room for the reception, I was taken back with how beautifully they had decorated the already gorgeous reception venue! The purples and greens were just stunning and I absolutely loved the one long table for the bridal party filled with all of the glassware and flowers!
